Rajasthan: Mineral Exploration Trust to undertake five projects

The Rajasthan state Mineral Exploration Trust will undertake five projects in order to explore Limestone, Iron Ore, and Garnet.

In the first executive meeting regarding the projects, the chief secretary, mines, and petroleum, Subodh Agarwal mentioned that the money collected for the trust will be used in exploration.

The exploration will be done in Kota, Baran, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, Udaipur, and Ajmer. There has been a lack of updated drilling machines, but now the trust can hire or buy new machines to expedite.

Up until 6 months after the trust opened, the trust was non-functional, as the funds collected were not released by the government. All the mining and quarry leaseholders are required to pay 2% of their royalty to the state government. This royalty in turn will be used to fund the government’s exploration projects.

National Mineral Exploration Trust is now undertaking explorations in India. This council includes people from Mining Exploration Corporation Ltd, Geological Survey of India and the Department of Geology and Mines.
